The concert will take place in The Nave of Chester Cathedral.

Our team will be on hand when you arrive to help direct you to your allocated seat.

What time does the show start?

Doors open at 6:45pm, with welcoming music from 6:45pm.

​

UKNOW CARIB perform from 7:45pm, followed by LEGEND – The Music of Bob Marley from 8:45pm.

LEGEND finish at approximately 10:30pm, but the night doesn’t have to end there! We’ll have closing music afterwards, so you’re very welcome to stay, grab another drink and enjoy a dance.

We recommend arriving between 6:45pm and 7:00pm so you have plenty of time to enter, find your seat, visit the bar and get settled before the live performances begin.

Timings are approximate and may be subject to small changes on the evening.

What happens if I arrive late?

Please arrive in good time wherever possible.

Once a live performance has started, latecomers may be asked to wait until a suitable break before being shown to their seats to avoid disrupting the performers and other guests.

We cannot guarantee immediate admission to your seat during a performance.

Is this the same format as the Rum & Reggae Festival?

No. This is a special one-night indoor concert experience at Chester Cathedral rather than our full outdoor festival.

Expect live reggae, a licensed bar and an incredible Cathedral setting, with UKNOW CARIB followed by two live sets from LEGEND – The Music of Bob Marley, plus closing music after the live performances.

Is there an age restriction?

Yes. This event is 12+.

Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult aged 18 or over for the duration of the event.

Anyone under 18 will not be permitted to purchase or consume alcohol.

A Challenge 25 policy will operate at the bar, so please bring valid photographic ID if you are lucky enough to look under 25 and would like to purchase alcohol.

TICKETS & ENTRY

Can I show my ticket on my phone?

Yes. Please have your ticket and QR code ready before reaching the entrance.

We recommend downloading or screenshotting your ticket before travelling and making sure your phone is charged.

Each ticket QR code can only be used once.

What if I cannot find my ticket or have a ticket problem?

Drop us an email at info@rumandreggaechester.co.uk with your ticket details specifically the email you purchased your tickets using and we can resend them on.

Don’t worry. A member of the Rum & Reggae team will be available at the entrance to help with ticket queries or problems.

​

Are seats allocated?

Yes. All tickets have an allocated seat number.

Please check your ticket for your seat details and follow directions from our event team when you arrive.

​

Can I buy tickets on the night?

Tickets may be available on the night only if the event has not sold out.

We strongly recommend booking in advance.

​

Are tickets refundable?

Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable except where the event is cancelled or where your statutory rights apply.

​

Will my bag be searched?

Yes. Security checks and bag searches will take place on entry.

Please bring only what you need for the evening and keep bags as small as possible to help us keep entry queues moving.

Have your bag ready for inspection when you reach security. Anyone refusing a reasonable security search may be refused entry.

These checks are in place for the safety and comfort of everyone attending the event.

Can I leave and come back?

Re-entry is not automatically guaranteed.

If you need to leave the Cathedral for a genuine reason, please speak to security or a member of the event team before leaving so they can advise you.

SEATING & ENJOYING THE SHOW

Is the event seated?

Yes. This is a fully seated concert and every ticket has an allocated seat number.

Please check your ticket for your seat details and follow directions from our event team when you arrive.

As Chester Cathedral is a historic building, views can naturally vary slightly from different parts of the venue.

​

Can we stand up and dance?

Absolutely — it wouldn’t be Rum & Reggae without a little dancing! 🌴🎶

We just ask everyone to be considerate of the people around them and to keep aisles, entrances and emergency routes clear.

Our stewards may occasionally ask guests to sit down or move if standing or dancing is affecting other guests or blocking access routes.

There will also be closing music after LEGEND finish at approximately 10:30pm, giving you another chance to enjoy a dance before the night comes to an end.

Can I bring my own chair?

No. This is an indoor seated concert and seating is provided.

Personal camping chairs, stools and picnic furniture should not be brought into the Cathedral.

​

Is there a dress code?

No formal dress code — come comfortable and ready to enjoy the reggae!

We simply ask guests to dress appropriately and respectfully for the Cathedral setting.

As Chester Cathedral is a historic building and temperatures can vary, we also recommend bringing an extra layer on an October evening.

DRINKS & INTERVALS

​

Will there be a bar?

Yes. A Rum & Reggae bar will be available with a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Cash and card will both be accepted.

We recommend bringing a little cash as a backup, just in case we experience any temporary technical or connectivity issues with card payments on the evening.

A Challenge 25 policy will apply.

Can I take drinks back to my seat?

Yes. Drinks purchased from the event bar or collected as part of a pre-order can be taken back to your allocated seat.

Please take care when moving through the Cathedral with drinks and be considerate of other guests.

​

How can I avoid queues at the bar?

We strongly recommend pre-ordering your interval drinks.

Both intervals are only 15 minutes long, so pre-ordering is the easiest way to spend less time queuing and more time enjoying the show.

Choose the interval you would like to collect during, select your drinks and pay online.

Interval 1: 8:30pm – 8:45pm
Interval 2: 9:30pm – 9:45pm

You can order for one or both intervals.

Please have your name and order confirmation number ready when collecting.

Can I still buy drinks without pre-ordering?

Yes, subject to availability.

However, our intervals are only 15 minutes long and the bar may be busy, so we strongly recommend pre-ordering where possible.

Can I bring my own food or drink?

Outside food and drink should not normally be brought into the event.

Exceptions can be made where food or drink is required for a medical condition, disability or other essential need.

Please contact us in advance if you have a particular requirement.

ACCESSIBILITY

Is Chester Cathedral accessible?

Chester Cathedral is mostly accessible, although as a historic building there are a small number of areas which have steps.

Where required, ramps can be put in place to provide access to certain areas.

If you have a specific accessibility requirement for the event, we recommend contacting us in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements wherever possible.

Can I attend with a wheelchair or mobility aid?

Yes.

If you will be attending in a wheelchair or have a specific seating or accessibility requirement, please contact us in advance so we can ensure the appropriate arrangements are in place for your visit.

​

Are Carer / Personal Assistant tickets available?

Guests who require essential support because of a disability or health condition may request one complimentary Personal Assistant/Carer ticket, subject to eligibility and availability. The deadline for carer ticket applications is Monday 12th October.

Please purchase the ticket for the person requiring support first and then contact us with your booking details and suitable supporting evidence.

We recommend making accessibility requests as early as possible before the event.

What if I cannot stand in a queue for long?

If you have an accessibility requirement which makes queuing difficult, please contact us in advance or speak to a member of our team when you arrive.

We will do our best to assist.

Where is the nearest Blue Badge parking?

The nearest Blue Badge parking recommended by Chester Cathedral is on Frodsham Street, Chester, CH1 3JJ.

Chester Cathedral advises that the Cathedral can be accessed without steps from this parking area.

Parking is not operated by Rum & Reggae, so please check local parking restrictions and availability before travelling.

Can I bring an assistance dog?

Yes. Assistance dogs are welcome.

If you are attending with an assistance dog and would like us to be aware of any particular requirements, please contact us before the event.

GETTING TO CHESTER CATHEDRAL

​

Where is the entrance?

Chester Cathedral's main entrance is on St Werburgh Street, Chester, CH1 2DY.

Please follow Rum & Reggae signage and instructions from our event team when you arrive.

​

Where can I park?

Chester Cathedral does not have a large event car park.

There are several public car parks within Chester city centre. Please check your chosen car park’s opening times, charges and closing times before travelling.

​

We recommend allowing plenty of time to park and make your way to the Cathedral.

How far is Chester Cathedral from the railway station?

Chester Railway Station is approximately a 20-minute walk from the Cathedral, or a short taxi journey depending on traffic.

Chester Bus Interchange is also a short walk from the Cathedral.

Please allow plenty of time for your journey.

VENUE INFORMATION

Are toilets available?

Toilet facilities will be available for guests during the event.

​

Can I smoke or vape?

Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside Chester Cathedral.

Please speak to a member of the event team if you need advice about where you can smoke or vape outside.

Can I take photographs or videos?

Personal photography and short videos on mobile phones are welcome unless you are advised otherwise on the evening.

Please do not use flash during performances and be considerate of the performers and guests around you.

Professional cameras, tripods, professional audio equipment or commercial filming require prior permission.

Will Rum & Reggae Chester LTd be taking photos or videos?

Yes. Photography and filming may take place during the event for promotional, social media and event purposes.

If you have a particular concern, please speak to a member of our team on the evening.

What items should I not bring?

For everyone's safety and to respect the Cathedral setting, please do not bring:

• Outside alcohol

• Glass containers

• Illegal drugs

• Weapons or sharp objects

• Fireworks, flares or smoke devices

• Candles or other naked flames

• Laser pointers or air horns

• Professional recording equipment without prior permission

• Camping chairs, stools or large furniture

• Anything security considers dangerous, disruptive or unsuitable for the venue

Medical items and essential food or drink required for health reasons are permitted.
