Terms and Conditions

Rum & Reggae Chester Chester Cathedral October 17th 2026

Good vibes only — but the rules still apply

Rum & Reggae UK – Terms & Conditions of Entry

These Terms & Conditions apply specifically to Rum & Reggae at Chester Cathedral - LEGEND: The Music of Bob Marley, taking place at Chester Cathedral on Saturday 17 October 2026.

They govern admission to and attendance at the event.

Ticket purchase, transfer, refund and cancellation matters are dealt with separately in our Ticket Policy.

By entering or attending the event, you agree to comply with these Terms & Conditions and any reasonable instructions given by the organiser, event staff, stewards, security personnel or authorised Chester Cathedral personnel.

1. Entry & Admission

Admission requires a valid event ticket.

Doors open at 6:45pm.

Security and ticket checks will take place before entry.

We reserve the right to refuse admission where reasonably necessary for safety, security, licensing compliance, protection of the venue or enforcement of these Terms & Conditions.

Guests arriving after a live performance has begun may be asked to wait until a suitable break before being shown to their allocated seat.

2. Security & Bag Searches

Security checks and bag searches will take place on entry.

Please keep bags as small as reasonably possible and bring only what you need for the evening.

Guests must cooperate with reasonable security procedures.

Anyone refusing a reasonable security or bag search may be refused admission.

Where a prohibited item is discovered, security may require the guest to remove it from the venue before entry or may take any other reasonable action required for safety or legal compliance.

Illegal items may be reported or handed to the appropriate authorities.

The organiser is not obliged to provide storage for prohibited or unsuitable items.

3. Age Policy & Under-18s

The event is strictly 12+.

Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult aged 18 or over for the duration of the event.

The accompanying adult is responsible for the supervision and behaviour of any under-18s in their care.

Anyone under the age of 18 must not purchase, attempt to purchase or consume alcohol.

Adults must not purchase or provide alcohol for anyone under 18.

Proof of age may be requested at entry where reasonably necessary to verify that a guest meets the minimum age requirement or that an accompanying adult is aged 18 or over.

4. Seating

This is a fully seated event with individually allocated seat numbers.

Guests should occupy the seat shown on their ticket unless directed otherwise by the event team.

For operational, safety, production or accessibility reasons, we may need to relocate a guest to another seat of a comparable standard.

Guests must not block aisles, doors, emergency exits or access routes.

5. Standing & Dancing

We want guests to enjoy the music and standing and dancing is welcome where it can be done safely and considerately.

Guests must remain mindful of other audience members and must not obstruct aisles, entrances, emergency routes or accessible areas.

Event staff may ask guests to sit down, move to another appropriate area or stop dancing in a particular location where reasonably necessary for safety, accessibility or the enjoyment of other guests.

Closing music will follow LEGEND's live performance at approximately 10:30pm, and guests are welcome to remain for drinks and dancing until the event closes.

6. Historic Venue

The event takes place in The Nave of Chester Cathedral.

Chester Cathedral is a Grade I listed historic building and place of worship. Guests must treat the building, its furnishings, monuments, fixtures and historic fabric with care and respect.

Guests must not climb on, lean equipment against, interfere with, mark or damage any part of the Cathedral.

The historic architecture also means that acoustics, sightlines and the overall concert environment may differ from a purpose-built theatre or concert hall.

Anyone deliberately damaging or interfering with the venue may be removed from the event and may be held responsible in accordance with applicable law.

7. Behaviour

Guests must behave responsibly and respectfully towards other guests, performers, event staff, security personnel and Cathedral personnel.

We may refuse admission or require a guest to leave where their behaviour is reasonably considered to be:

- Dangerous;

- Threatening or violent;

- Abusive or discriminatory;

- Seriously disruptive;

- Likely to cause damage;

- In breach of licensing requirements;

- Excessively intoxicated;

- Under the influence of illegal drugs; or

- Otherwise likely to put themselves or others at risk.

Where a guest is refused entry or removed because of their own behaviour or a material breach of these Terms & Conditions, a refund will not normally be provided.

8. Alcohol & Challenge 25

Alcohol will only be sold or supplied to guests aged 18 or over.

A Challenge 25 policy will operate.

Anyone who appears under 25 may be required to provide acceptable photographic identification before alcohol is supplied.

We reserve the right to refuse the sale or supply of alcohol where:

- Acceptable proof of age is not provided when requested;

- The person appears intoxicated;

- We reasonably believe alcohol is being purchased for someone under 18; or

- Refusal is otherwise required by licensing law or our licence conditions.

9. Alcohol Pre-Orders

Alcohol ordered through the event's advance drinks ordering service may only be collected by a person aged 18 or over.

Paying for alcohol online does not remove the requirement to satisfy our Challenge 25 procedure when collecting the order.

Proof of age may therefore still be required at collection.

Alcohol may be refused where required by law or our age-verification procedures.

10. Drinks at Seats

Drinks purchased from the event bar or collected through the authorised pre-order service may be taken to your allocated seat.

Guests must take reasonable care when carrying drinks through the Cathedral and should be considerate of other guests and the historic venue.

Please dispose of cups and other waste responsibly.

11. Outside Food & Drink

Outside food and drink may not normally be brought into the event.

Reasonable exceptions will be made for items required because of:

- A medical condition;

- Disability;

- Dietary or health needs; or

- Another genuine essential requirement.

Guests are encouraged to contact us in advance if they require an exception, although failure to contact us beforehand will not prevent reasonable consideration of a genuine need on arrival.

12. Prohibited Items

Guests must not bring anything illegal, dangerous, disruptive or unsuitable for the Cathedral setting.

Prohibited items include, but are not limited to:

- Weapons or items intended for use as weapons;

- Illegal drugs;

- Fireworks, flares or smoke devices;

- Candles or other naked flames;

- Glass containers;

- Laser pointers;

- Air horns or similar disruptive devices;

- Professional audio or recording equipment without prior permission;

- Professional camera equipment or tripods without prior permission;

- Camping chairs, stools or other furniture;

- Outside alcohol; and

- Any other item reasonably considered by security to create a safety, security or venue-protection risk.

Medical equipment, mobility aids and items required because of disability or another essential need are permitted, subject to reasonable security procedures.

Please also refer to our separate Prohibited Items Policy.

13. Re-entry

There is no automatic right of re-entry after leaving the event.

If you need to leave Chester Cathedral temporarily, please speak to a member of the event team before exiting.

Where re-entry is permitted, guests may be required to present their ticket again and undergo a further security check.

14. Smoking & Vaping

Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside Chester Cathedral.

Guests should follow instructions from event or Cathedral staff regarding any permitted smoking area outside the building.

15. Accessibility

We aim to make the event accessible and welcoming.

Accessible seating and Personal Assistant / Essential Companion arrangements are available for eligible guests, subject to availability.

Guests requiring a complimentary Personal Assistant or Essential Companion ticket may be asked to provide reasonable supporting evidence.

If you require an accessibility adjustment, including wheelchair seating or assistance with entry or queuing, please contact us as early as reasonably possible so arrangements can be made.

Accessibility information should be read alongside our dedicated Accessibility Policy and event FAQs.

16. Assistance Dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome.

Guests attending with an assistance dog may contact us in advance if they have a particular requirement or would like us to make the event team aware before arrival.

17. Photography & Personal Recording

Personal photography and short video clips taken on mobile phones are generally permitted unless guests are advised otherwise.

Please:

- Do not use flash photography during live performances;

- Do not obstruct other guests' views;

- Do not use tripods or professional equipment without permission; and

- Respect reasonable instructions from performers, event staff and security.

Unauthorised professional, commercial or substantial audio/video recording is not permitted.

18. Event Photography & Filming

Official photography and filming may take place during the event for purposes including event coverage, publicity, social media and promotion of Rum & Reggae events.

Where reasonably practicable, guests who have concerns about being prominently or individually featured should speak to a member of the event team.

Use of personal data, including identifiable photography or footage where applicable, is governed by our Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection law.

19. Personal Belongings & Lost Property

Guests are responsible for taking reasonable care of their own personal belongings.

Please keep valuables with you and do not leave belongings unattended.

Rum & Reggae is not responsible for loss, theft or damage to personal belongings except where caused by our negligence, breach of contract or another legal duty which cannot lawfully be excluded.

We cannot guarantee that lost items will be recovered.

Any property handed to the event team will be dealt with under the event's lost-property arrangements.

20. Safety & Emergencies

Guests must promptly follow reasonable instructions given by event staff, stewards, security or authorised Cathedral staff in relation to safety, security or evacuation.

We may temporarily delay admission, interrupt a performance, alter arrangements or take other reasonable action where necessary to protect guests, performers, staff or the venue.

In an emergency or evacuation, guests must follow staff instructions and must not attempt to re-enter the building until authorised to do so.

21. Changes to the Programme

Advertised artists, supporting entertainment, performance times, intervals and other programme details may be subject to reasonable change.

The organiser will make reasonable efforts to deliver the event substantially as advertised.

If a significant advertised performer is unable to appear, we will make reasonable efforts, where practicable, to provide suitable replacement entertainment. A replacement cannot be guaranteed.

Minor or reasonable changes to timings or supporting entertainment will not normally entitle a guest to a refund.

Cancellation and postponement rights are dealt with in the separate Ticket Policy.

22. Circumstances Beyond Our Reasonable Control

Events outside the organiser's reasonable control may require us to modify, delay, interrupt, postpone or cancel all or part of the event.

Examples may include:

- Serious safety or security incidents;

- Emergency venue closure;

- Government or public-authority restrictions;

- Major infrastructure or utility failure;

- Severe disruption affecting safe operation; or

- Other circumstances which could not reasonably have been prevented by the organiser.

Where this occurs, we will take reasonable steps to inform ticket holders and minimise disruption.

Any applicable ticket refund or rescheduling rights will be dealt with under the Ticket Policy and applicable law.

23. Third-Party Services

Travel, parking, accommodation, taxis and other third-party arrangements are not provided as part of the event ticket unless expressly stated otherwise.

Guests are responsible for making and checking their own arrangements.

Rum & Reggae is not responsible for the acts or omissions of independent third-party service providers except where the law provides otherwise.

24. Liability

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or restricts liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

In particular, nothing excludes or restricts liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Subject to this, Rum & Reggae will not be responsible for losses which:

- Were not reasonably foreseeable when the relevant contract was made;

- Were caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control; or

- Arise from independent travel, accommodation, parking or other arrangements which are not part of the event service we agreed to provide.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights.

25. Data Protection

Personal information collected in connection with ticketing and event administration will be processed in accordance with applicable data-protection law and our Privacy Policy.

Personal data may be used where appropriate for purposes including:

- Processing and administering bookings;

- Communicating essential event information;

- Responding to accessibility or customer-service requests;

- Safety, security and incident management; and

- Marketing where we have an appropriate lawful basis to do so.

We do not sell customers' personal data to advertisers.

26. Reasonable Changes to These Terms

We may make reasonable changes to these Terms & Conditions before the event where necessary because of changes in law, licensing requirements, safety requirements, venue requirements or event-operational circumstances.

We will not use this provision to make arbitrary changes which unfairly remove existing consumer rights.

Where a change is material and it is reasonably practicable to do so, updated information will be communicated or made available to ticket holders before the event.

27. Relationship With Other Policies

These Terms & Conditions should be read together with:

- The event Ticket Policy;

- Accessibility Policy;

- Prohibited Items Policy;

- Privacy Policy; and

- Event FAQs and information.

Where different policies deal with different subjects, the policy dealing specifically with that subject should be read as the primary provision for that issue.

Nothing in any event policy affects rights which cannot lawfully be excluded.

28. Severability

If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is found to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply so far as legally possible.

29. No Waiver

If we do not immediately enforce a particular provision of these Terms & Conditions, this does not necessarily mean that we have waived our right to enforce it later.

30. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Nothing in this provision deprives a consumer of any mandatory legal rights or rights relating to jurisdiction which apply to them under applicable consumer law.

31. Event Organiser

This event is organised by Rum & Reggae Chester Ltd
